Gordon Ramsay London Los Angeles

Good: Ambiance, feels like you are in London, good drinks, food presentation, food seasoning

Bad: Risotto, prefix menus

Parking is validated for $10. Which is decent price for a nice hotel like this.

Check before reserving as sometimes they have prefix menus.

If you are not a big wine fan and like hard alcohol or exotic beers, ask them for the drinks menu. They have a great selection of exotic beers and drinks. The Ruby Red was awesome as it had grapefruit, vodka, and grenadine in it.

We had the steak and the salmon. Both were awesome dishes. Smaller dishes as with most of these high end restaurants.

I don't like ham so I didn't get the Beef Wellington which is their most popular dish. You are on your own with that one, I have heard great things about it.

Except for the risotto, which tasted like oatmeal and milk, all food was awesome with great seasoning.

Staff is very nice and attentive. Dressed nicely. The kind of service you expect from a high end hotel restaurant.

For a cheaper meal try Boxwood Cafe during lunch hour. It is part of the same restaurant.

Good: Awesome desserts, good wine selection, great ambiance
Neutral: Dinner
Bad: Service service service

We reviewed this restaurant during Dine LA weekend. Please understand that this restaurant is ran more like a small restaurant for the price range it is charging.

The dinner was nothing special. We requested our steaks medium. One came out medium well, the other one was well done. Neither were done correctly.

Finally, we really wanted dessert. The waitress claimed they were out of one dessert item which we wanted. This was disturbing because I saw the dessert item in the dessert fridge window after dinner. Not sure if it was for someone else's or she was just informed she needed to sell other desserts.

Either way, our dessert was good.

Based on our experience, expect to come to this restaurant to experience the ambience. It is a very cute restaurant. Don't expect much from dinner.

McDonalds McRib Sandwich Review

The McRib sandwich was made fun of on the Simpsons TV episode. This is where Homer gets high everytime he has a McRib sandwich. McDonalds has decided to bring the sandwich back. Today I went ahead and tried the sandwich. Here are the full details:

The meat in the sandwich is some kind of weird ground meat. Not sure what its made out of. There are no bones in the sandwich even though it looks like it in the commercial.

The other problem is there is not much on the sandwich. Just onions and pickels. The huge amount of sauce makes the sandwich soggy.

No wonder McDonald's stopped carrying the item for so long. I am sure this will just be a temporary thing because if you have this sandwich once you probably will never have it again.

Here is another review by a friend I found on YouTube:

Katsuya Brentwood: Great food, bad service near closing time

Katsuya Brentwood
11777 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
(310) 207-8744 ‎
sbe.com

Bill total: Around $115 + tip for 2 people
Time: Wednesday night

We ordered a bottle of Saki which consisted of a lot of our bill. As all other restaurants, the alcohol will set you back. Of course I ordered one of the least expensive.

I ordered my favorite dish, Rock Shrimp Tempura Roll, which I usually order at the Katsuya in the Valley (of course you can go to the valley Katsuya for 1/2 the price). This is the best dish by far.

Also, we had Albacore with grilled onions. There was like 1000 pounds of grilled onions. After one bite I had to sweep off grilled onions with my chop stick.

Beef robata with asparagus was another bad dish. The beef had no taste, probably due to the fact that they washed it down 1000 times to get it softer and to wrap around.

Finally, we had the yellowtail suhimi with jalapenos, which is another one of my favorite dishes. I can't complain about this dish, it is sooo good.

Overall, the service was crap because we came into the restaurant about 1 hr before closing time. I suggest nobody ever goes that late because they don't provide any service near closing time. All they care about is getting ready to leave.

Asia De Cuba, Sunset, Los Angeles

Asia De Cuba
8440 Sunset Boulevard
West Hollywood, CA 90069
Tel. 323 848 6000
Dinner Sun-Thu 5 PM-11 PM,Fri-Sat 5 PM-12AM

I went on a Saturday to Asia De Cuba. The outside seating is great if you like to hear nice upbeat music while eating.

The hostess was very nice and she took care of us right away. She seated us promptly where we wanted to be seated. The waitor was also very nice and explained all the dishes to us. The great service was surprising considering that this is a very trendy hotel and usually at these hotels they aren't so nice.

We had the Thai Beef Salad and Popcorn shrimp for appetizer. The Thai Salad had sliced cold sliced roas beef pieces under the salad. Once we tried it we were very happy with the taste. The popcorn shrimp is nice because it has 3 tasty dipping sauces. We also ordered champaign.

For the main course we ordered the beef short ribs. I wasn't so excitedwith this dish because the beef taste was more on the baked side instead of being seared. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty tasty. It also comes with crunchy chips that have rice on them which we liked very much.

We were full by the end so we didn't order any dessert.

Overall, this was a great experience. The service was perfect and the food was also perfect. They also came by and validated our parking without us having to ask. This is again great service considering most places don't even say anything about validation until the customer asks.

After dinner, we walked into Skybar club/lounge which was fun. We had a drink and danced but left early because there were way too many people in there. I felt like a sardine after some point. Definetly good if you want a crowd.

BLT Steak

Restaurant:
BLT Steak
8720 Sunset Boulevard
West Hollywood CA, 90069Map it!
Telephone: 310-360-1950
Menu: http://www.bltsteak.com/PDF-LA/dinner-menu.pdf

Claim: They claim this is the best steakhouse in New York.

My Visit:
I went to BLK Steak last week. I had a reservation at 9:30pm when they were less busy. I arrived about 10 min earlier to get a drink before sitting down. They took more than 45 minutes to seat me. It only two of us. I was very upset at this point because other people were sitting down.

The ambiance is beautiful and the bar is nice. Drinks are pretty expensive.

I was upset about the wait, but I decided to leave it aside.

For appetizer I ordered the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare appetizer was not very good as it seemed like it was scooped out and made into a square. This is not the place to have tuna tartare.

For entree #1 I went ahead and ordered the Japanese Kobe Strip which is about $26 per ounce. I had seen on the Food network that Japanese Kobe Steak is the best steak in the world so I decided to go with it. I ordered 6 ounces so the steak came out to $156. . For entree #2, my date ordered the Salmon which was around $37.

With the Japanese Kobe steak, they bring it out to see raw before taking it to the kitchen to cook. I approved the steak and they took it in for cooking. The dinner took veryyyy long to prepare. I was not happy about this. I would think after I complained about the seating wait they would take that into consideration.

When the Japanese Kobe Steak came out it was prepared perfectly. This was the best steak I had in my life. It was to die for. Of course, it was $10 per bite! :) Everyone has to try this steak once in their life.

The salmon wasn't so great. I don't suggest ordering anything else but steak at this restaurant. Most people were having steak. I took a chance and ordered tuna appetizer and salmon. This was a mistake.

Make sure to go on a night that you have patience for dealing with the waiting. Also, make sure to go when you have lots of money availible to spend.
